The Safest Car in 2010

American Institute for Highway Safety Insurance Institute for Highway Safety IIHS) issued a progress report on the safest cars of 2010.

  As a result of extensive studies of different models, nine cars and eight crossovers "earned" the highest rating.
In studies this year, a new kind of "accidents".


   Previously, the Institute conducted the standard crash tests that simulate frontal, side and rear impacts, but now appears in the list, the strength of the roof, which should determine whether the car is capable of protecting passengers in the coup.
    "With the addition of a new test in our list, research institute now cover all the most common accident", - said Adrian Lund, president of the organization.
    All cars participating in the tests were divided into five classes, each of which identified their leaders.
    Best of all proved to be a Japanese brand Subaru - cars of this brand were in the top three in four classes of cars. Overall, the company posted five top awards - Top Safety Pick award.
    Ford, along with its subsidiary Volvo took sixth place among the leaders in security.
    Volkswagen / Audi got five awards.

Chrysler, despite the traditionally poor quality of its vehicles, managed to greatly advance and earn four awards. In the list of leaders of the two new items this year - Nissan Cube and the Kia Soul.
   The biggest disappointment of the current rating of the company was Toyota - none of the models of the largest Japanese automaker is not present among the leaders.
   Last year, Toyota with its subsidiaries, Lexus and Scion brands took 11 seats in the ranking. A similar situation exists with BMW, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Saab.
