The leaders of GM approved production of a new Cadillac sedan

The leaders of GM approved production of a new Cadillac sedan.jpg    Management of General Motors gave the green light to the project by issuing a new flagship sedan Cadillac, maked explanation of a concept car XTS, which was introduced earlier this year at the Motor Show in Detroit. According to the American edition of Motor Trend, citing its own sources inside GM, the car will hit dealerships in the U.S. next year. It is expected that the production of new items will be built at the factory of the group in Ontario.

According to preliminary data, the exterior and interior serial Cadillac XTS, which is in the range of the company will replace
the two models at once - DTS and STS, practically will not differ from the prototype. Overall length flagship sedan will be 5170 mm, width - 1900 mm, height - 1500 mm, and its wheelbase will be equal to 2837 millimeters. It is expected that the new adaptive suspension gets Magnetic Ride Control, a multimedia system with additional screens for rear passengers and a fully electronic instrument panel.

What engines will be offered for commercial XTS not yet known. Note that the prototype was equipped with a hybrid power plant, consisting of 3.6-liter gasoline V6 engine with direct fuel injection, electric motor and lithium-ion batteries. The total capacity of such facility is equal to 350 horsepower and maximum torque - 400 Nm. Some foreign publications suggest that a similar modification of the hybrid may also appear in the serial Cadillac XTS.

Earlier, executives of General Motors has decided not to run in the mass production of another new model "Cadillac" - a hybrid coupe Converj. It was planned that this car will appear in the series in 2011, but because of the crisis had to stop the project. Later, the idea of collecting coupe Converj reappeared at the helm of GM, but from it still had to be abandoned. The company felt that such a car will not be popular because of high costs and small electric range (about 64 kilometers).
